Online Continuing Education Courses

Psychotherapy Training Institute provides continuing education to established mental health professionals, such as counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists. Our hope is to develop and further the field by creating expert-developed trainings with practical tools for the everyday clinician.

THY-DBT-100

DBT is a practical, hands-on therapy that can be used to help any client, even if they don’t have a mood disorder. From this course, you will learn about emotions and how to change them, become better able to interact with others, be more mindful, and learn how to handle difficult situations proficiently.

THY-EFT-100

This introductory course on Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) gives you a detailed understanding of the therapy. It also explains how EFT was developed, its strategies, how it can help people, and what are its perks, effectiveness, and limitations.

THY-MI-100

Introduction to Motivational Interviewing includes background material & clinical psychologists William R. Miller & Stephen Rollnick’s work, as well as provides learners with an overview of MI theory, principles, and abilities.

THY-SFT-100

Credit

This introductory course on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy presents an overview of key concepts, including background information on the development of SFBT, and SFBT questions, including the “miracle question” with corresponding practice activities, and some limitations of solution-focused brief therapy.

THY-RT-100

By the end of the course, the participant will have: a basic understanding of Reality Therapy; ​summarize Reality Therapy’s view of human nature; describe the role of the counsellor in Reality Therapy​; summarize the goals of Reality Therapy​; identify techniques of Reality Therapy; and identity and differentiate the strengths and limitations of Reality Therapy.

THY-GST-101

This introductory course explores the history and development of Gestalt therapy along with foundational theoretical concepts that invite the learner into this dynamic approach.

THY-PCT-100

This introductory course on Person-Centered Therapy presents an overview of key concepts including background information on Rogerian Theory, principles of the actualizing tendency, the conditions necessary for an effective therapeutic relationship, and some limitations of the person-centered approach.
